The eighth volume of Bournea Reaching Out continues to chronicle the history, people, and heritage of Clonakenny, Couraguneen, and the wider Bournea parish - capturing local life both past and present through a rich collection of stories, records, and photographs.

The 2021 edition carries the theme of “Telecommunication”, reflecting a year when much of community life moved online, yet connections remained as strong as ever. Inside, readers will find over 140 pages of fascinating local history, family research, and community features, including:

  • From Bournea to the Aussie Outback

  • The Suir, the Nore and the Parish of Bournea

  • Dr. Gertrude Barber – A Life of Service and Faith

  • The Roscrea Rajah

  • A Pregnant Passage to the United States

  • The Source of the Nore Walking Trails

  • Two Centuries of Rectors in Bourney (1778–1979)

  • Heroes and Heroines of Memphis

  • The Mask of the River Gods

It also includes graveyard records, parish updates, ICA and GAA reports, and contributions from local schools and heritage groups, capturing the full breadth of community activity across the parish and beyond.

Compiled by the Bournea Reaching Out Historical Society, this beautifully illustrated volume highlights how a small parish in Tipperary continues to preserve its stories, traditions, and connections with families across the world through Ireland Reaching Out.

A wonderful keepsake for anyone with Bournea roots or an interest in Irish local history and genealogy.
